Weather and annoyance!

Guess what?!?
It's hot everywhere in the United States, especially in the South! But taking a photo of your car thermometer and or a screen shot of your phone's weather app is not going to make it any cooler. For all you people posting photos, I am sure you were also bitching when it was "cold" in the south. Stop complaining and taking useless photos and blowing up my timeline. It's the summer. You asked for it in January and now its kicking your butt in June!! It's going to get hot when the earth is closest to the sun or you can blame Al Gore and his "global warming theory" if you believe in that! When you start complaining about the cold next winter I will make sure I remind you all about the 104* weather July 4th weekend 2012!

Enjoy the weekend and the heat!

Coast to Coast

Whispering Sweet Nothings

So I was playing on blogger this evening and found a great idea through this blog (attempting my first link in a blog) and trying to connect with other people your area that may also blog.  I was checking out the "pin-point" map and realized that five bloggers in state of Georgia that follow that one particular blog and hopefully I will be the sixth on her map.

After reading so many blogs about all the wonderful people bloggers have met through travels and or just became friends by reading each others life stories, I thought wow I wish I knew more people in my area that blogged.  My friend Bridget was the one that peaked my interest in blogging last summer when she told me about meet-up and swaps she does with some of the girls.  It took me about four more months after her and I talking about the whole blogging process to actually sit down, create one, and post my first "blog".  I am hoping that maybe I will be able to participate in swaps, meet-ups and or anything else a "blogging family" may do.

Hope my three post today have not bored people to death!!

Widespread Wednesday 6.27.12

Hey Y'all!  Happy Wednesday!  I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day!!  The past week has been a really productive.  I've been thinking and planning a lot this past week and very excited about the outcome of the some of the planning.

This last weekend Jen and I planned our annual Red Neck Raft Club (RNRC) weekend in Pell City Alabama,  It will be the first weekend of August and I'm taking Monday and Tuesday off from work to have a full time weekend with one of my best friend.  I am so excited about finally having some girl time with Jen.  When Jen and I get together it is more then chaos.  We will be soaking up the sun on our floats and drinking beer with the best of them.  I am sure we will go into 'Dega hopefully go to the racetrack and hang out with some of the local's.  I hope that we can make it to Hur-icanns and play some beer pong and hopefully win this summer.

So last week on my Wednesday post I wrote about more or less all the things I loved about the summertime.  And I forgot about watermelon.  Bryan and I bought a watermelon from one of the local farmers in Eatonton.  I am pretty sure that over the past few days I have eaten my weight in watermelon.  We cut up the whole watermelon and that was an adventure in itself.  I did not want Bryan to even take any home with him.  I still have two more huge Tupperware bowls full of watermelon left  in the fridge and it is still only Wednesday!

I have also had this dream about going on another Disney Vacation!  I really need a vacation!  Every time I try and plan something, life always seams to get in the way.  And I am sick of it!!  I keep thinking that going out of town would be one of the best ways for me to kind of calm down and pretend to be a kid again.  I have been so much to be stressed out about all the little things I think I just need some time to relax, laugh and be a kid.  When Kelly and I went in May of 08 we had a blast.  I am hoping that Bryan will read this and maybe want to go with me in October for a few days.  But I know with School and Football season it will be the last thing on his priority list, since October is a busy month for us.

The last thing I am wild about this week is the world "LOVE."  After the quite weekend Bryan and I had (our plans did not work our with my girlfriends due to an emergency surgery) I know that he is the one for me.  I think that everything we have right now is perfect.  I absolutely hate being away from him during the week when we can not see each other.  I love every second we are together.  He made me feel so special last week when he had flowers sent to my office and when he came into town even thought I did not feel good!  He is so wonderful to me.  I can not get enough of him!!  I am so glad that we found each other the way we did.  I do not know what I would do with out him.  I am in love wit that man he is my world and I hope I am his!

Retro Week on MTV!?!?

It has come to my attention via facebook that MTV is doing “retro weeks” this summer. This made me feel very old knowing that MTV considers shows like, Daria, Laguna Beach and the Hills as “retro”. I have already informed Kelly about this and we both agree we need to be at home watching all these shows together.  I should of known that this time was going to come seeing that they are playing Friends, Home Improvement and the Nanny all on Nick at Night, which were all classics when I was in elementary school and or middle school. Wow, I feel like I am dating myself in the post.  And for all you young-in's out there, the Jersey Shore will be the next to be "retro" on MTV, just give it a few years!!
I remember being in high school watching Daria with my friends in the basement while we having sleepovers at our parents houses after football game and concerts. It was the show that all 15-21 year old girls were able to agree on. It was about an outcast high girl and her friend Jane, and their days in high school.  She was portrayed as a sarcastic yet funny girl.  She said what she wanted and did not care what or who it might offend.  That is kind of my out-look on life still to this day.

Then there was Laguna Beach. The first reality show that I can say I honestly got hooked on while I was in college. We use to have viewing parties at my house (remember I lived with 2 guys at the time who gladly gave the main TV over to have a Laguna Night at the house) with some of my girlfriends over to watch and then discus the show. It was like we connected with these teenagers in the "real OC" (which was also another show) and their life stories through out High School and first year or so in college. If there was a class offered in college about Laguna Beach I would have received an “A” in the class.

And my all time favorite was the Hills, which was a spin off of Laguna Beach. I know for a fact that your going to think I am crazy for this. But Kelly and I use to get together every Monday night after we moved back to Atlanta after college to watch the Hills. We ate Mexican, watched Greek and the Hills together and of course had that shock look on our faces when LC left in the Limo from Heidi and Spencer's wedding and we were both very excited when Kristen came back (original cast member of Laguna Beach). Lame I know but it was the memories of being with my friend which made the show that much better!

Holy Cow! I am getting old! Happy Tuesday!

Headache Help!?!

Have you ever had one of those days that you just want to be left alone. The work phone/email do not stop. Then once you get home the cell and or house line, texting, and social media will not stop beeping or ringing. Well I have had one of those days today. (Lucky the rumor is that a tower is down with Verizon right now and out going calls are not working).

Bryan can over last night because it was date night and him and I went out to Bone Island Grille in Eatonton and then has fro-yo in Milledgeville. But when we got back to the house I horrible headache. I should of known that when I woke up with a headache the day was going to go downhill. Went to work, made it through most the day, Bryan sent me beautiful flowers because I wasn't feeling good, and then when I got home the cell phone and social media would not stop; which made my head hurt even more.

I really just need some time alone and not being bothered for a few hours. I want to sit in the dark (because that helps my headaches) watch tv and pop some ibuprofen to feel better. I'm sure people do not understand that I do not want to be social after work some days. I can't wait until the weekend to try and de-stress myself. Hopefully Bryan will take me and get a pedicure, let me sleep in and maybe watch movies or go get some sun on the lake.

Anyone have any good times on headache or stress relief? Willing to take any suggestions.

Less then 24 hours until the weekend!

Widespread Wednesday 6.20.12

Today starts my second favorite time of the year... Summer!  Even though we have been popping top, playing in the lake and celebrated Memorial day which is usually the un-official start to summer summer has finally arrived.  No more complaining about 90* plus days, planning beach and lake trips with friends and family, grilling on the BBQ and watching the fire-files in the back yard. As a kid I loved swimming all day at the pool and walking home with the street lights came on around 8:45-9pm and then playing "ghost in the graveyard" until it was pitch black outside.  Then growing-up a little in college sitting on the deck at the bar watching the braves and having a beer.  Summer is just a stree-free time.  I hope that everyone has a wonderful first week of summer!!

My favorite summer holiday is the 4th of July.  I love watching fireworks in the night sky, being with family, watching the bike parade and city parade's drinking cold bud light and eating hot dogs and listening to patriotic music and I guess I just love the good ole RED WHITE AND BLUE and being American.  This 4th of July I kind of luck out. I get to go watch fireworks on the Lake Sinclair Saturday night and then in the park in Athens, Georgia on the actual Wednesday 4th of July and both times with Bryan!

Since it is the summer and I can not already start talking about football season (75ish more days).  I am very excited that the summer Olympics are coming up in July.  It also gives me something to watch when I get home from work during the day and when the Braves are not on.  I love the Olympics because it gives us as a country something to rally around and talk about with people we may not know.  It also showcases sports that are not as mainstream as they should be.  Its knowing that people around the world all are watching the same race or meet you are.  Most of the stories of the athletics are inspirational on how they got to where they are now.  Its just a great site to see a country rallying for their athletes and friendly .

What are your favorite things about the summer??

I'd love to hear them!

Friendship Attemps

I'm not trying to toot my own horn but I can honestly say that most people like me. I am a pretty amazing friend, a good listener, always there for them and I like to think Id do anything for any one of my best friends! But right now I am having a hard time getting this one person to at lease give me a chance or even a glance into their life.

I've tried talking with her when we are together, be friended her on social media, and have attempted to just straight up get to know her. I've asked questions about every aspect of life. I don't think once she ever asked how I feel about things or hell what my favorite color is!!

I'm not going into detail about anything else but my heart is broken that I cannot get a friendship to bloom. It's not that I need any new or anymore friends but but this one persons friendship kind of means something to me. Unfortunately my gut is telling me to give up on this but my head is telling me not to.

Torn, undecided and looking for answers

Purses... Purses and more Purses

Last night I had my heart broken... by a Prada tan leather shoulder bag.  My favorite purse finally bit the dust.  The woven leather shoulder strap broke off from the wear and tear this amazing purse had endured from almost the past 10 years.  It was my first Prada purse that had been purchase for me by my parents and or self. I actually think it may of been my graduation gift from high school.  It had traveled to Europe, been left at the bar in Chicago and returned to me a day later, been to many dry-cleaner to get the college bar smell out of the leather, sat on the hill at Paulson stadium for at lease 8 season of football, and broke a zipper in Costa Rica.  I was heart-broken when I finally realized it may be time to retire and i hate using the word "throw away" but maybe give the purse its proper resting spot.  I placed it in the cloth bag that I kept it in and I threw it away this morning.  I had a tear in my eye when I left the house this morning knowing that when I return Monday morning it will not in use every again.

If you know me, i am sure your thinking Laura your nuts, I have seen your closet and most girls would die to have the purse collection you have.  Or my favorite from my parents; you know that you have two more 40 gallon Tupperware containers full of purses at our house, and little do they know i have 2 more also at my house.  (i think i may be a purse hoarder, but most of mine are classic Louis Vuitton or my two vintage Chanel bags which one was my dads mothers clutch).  I will keep you updated on purse search.  But right now I am attempting to work with a medium light pink Longchamp bag.  Which I found still in the bag from the Longchamp store in Chicago and the receipt was purchased Christmas Eve 2010.

So now the quest of finding a new everyday tan purse has started.  I am sure I am going to have to keep in my mind that I will never find such a wonderful purse as my tan Prada purse but I will make it my goal this summer to look and buy one and hopefully it last at lease 10ish years and have as many good memories as I did with my Prada bag!

Happy Friday!

Happy Hump Day Everyone!!!

So far I can not complain to much about the first two days of the week and there are lots of good things that will be going on this week/weekend. I have worked out 2 times so far this week.  I am trying to get back into the swing of things, like when I was going to gym 4 times a week.

This week I would like to give a shout out to how I spend most of my time. I like to call it "lake-time". More or less it's a slower pace of life. Very care free and easy going. I'm very excited to have the GATAILGATORS to the lake in June and July. I wish that we were able to all together on one weekend but I don't think it is going to work out this summer.

Next as you saw in my last post I finished my kitchen. Which I will probably be bragging about for the next five years. All the accessories came from Pier 1. I did their pier1 2 go and it worked/was beautiful. They had everything I liked/wanted to see in person already pulled under the counter. The greatest part is that I didn't have to go wonder around the store looking for everything I saw online. And to be honest that may of saved me some money that i was "browsing" the store. Their customer service was spot on Saturday also. And the one item that they did not have in the Macon store they already had on order for me to be picked up at another store. Such a beautiful concept, especially since that was my last stop on a shipping adventure last weekend.

Speaking of spot on we have less then 80 days until Georgia Southern Football season. I can not wait to be spending my fall Saturday's with 21,000 of my closest friends in Americas prettiest little stadium. It is the one time of the year I get so excited about. I already know that August we will be prepping for our first game the Saturday of Labor Day weekend!! I also get to drag Bryan to more then just one this season. Yes we are hopefully going to be going to some UGA games (for his sake) if he gets his season tickets.

Finally the weekend saver was the rainy day we had on Sunday.  When it started raining Saturday night I knew that Sunday was going to be a lazy day.  Bryan and I set up the blue-ray player, watching the Braves, set up the kitchen with the items we bought from our shopping adventure. Then to end the day off we had waffle house for dinner (breakfast for dinner was a great) and popped some popcorn and watched True Blood.  It was a perfect way to end the a wonderful weekend!

Take it easy on this hump day!

Pending....

Pending; pen-ding
(preposition)
1) while awaiting; until
2) in the period before the decision or conclusion of; during
(adjective)
1) remaining undecided; awaiting decisions or settlement; unfinished

This seven letter word is almost a four letter word in my week. There are so many things that can be pending...

A friendship
A relationship
A bank approval
A home sale
A transactions
School Grade
and
Patent's are always pending (yes I went there, I just couldn't help it)

It has been a few years that I have had any major pending "items" on my list. This item pending will not hurt me in any way what-so-ever.

Today I will be talking about a pending relationship i saw on Facebook Sunday. Seeing this pending relationship has already changed how I view this person. It doesn't matter if it gets accepted or not it is still a slap in the face that it was even asked! It's like you don't care about my feeling, and I'm sure if you read this you'd be upset.

This person had no idea how much their pending relationship is hurting a loved one. I hate that this one person has no idea that if their pending relationship is accepted that there whole world will change in a quick minute. It's funny how one swift press of a mouse or click on a tablet can change a real relationship. (damn social media).

I hope that if and when this pending relationship becomes accepted or declined the person who has asked will realize what a mistake they made, especially if it is approved!!

I'm trying not to let your pending life style get in my way but I do not like how your not accepting me when I have accepted you. (don't say I didn't try to warn you or try to get to know you)

Happy Pending Day!

Kitchen Krazy!!

Last week my master piece was completed. I have been in my house for almost three years and I have final finished my kitchen, (minus the counter tops) the exact way I wanted it! When I moved in I had the walls painted a Crimson Red because I had white cabinets and black appliances.

I had a custom bench seat build in white with bead board. The bench looks perfect. It is everything that I dreamed and asked the guy who build it do for me. I'd have to say thank you to dad for the idea with the bead board. It totally made the bench seat pop!

I also bought new chairs and buffet from pottery barn, both matching my formal dinning room table. I also bought a black table from Ikea for the kitchen. (assembling the table is a whole other story, let's just say it took twoish hours and an ice-cream break)

Bryan and I put shelves (also from Ikea) up and decorated them with some white, sliver, and black faces and shelf sitters from a few other stores around town.  The table settings: sliver chargers, napkins, napkin rings, and red spheres are all from Pier 1 Imports and the sliver bowl from Ikea

I am so happy with the way everything has turned out in the kitchen and with my dinning room. Now if I can only tackle both my bed rooms and have them presentable I'd be one happy girl!

A VENT for the ages....

Right now it's Tuesday night around 11:30, Sports Centers on and I'm trying to catch up on my favorite teams and their scores. I am sure that its going to be a two-parter, due to the fact I am crazy tired. I have been contemplating posting this blog all day. I am sure that it is probably not going to come off the way I want it to, but guess what I don't care. This may be the vent of the ages and something that my mom and I spoke about this weekend. So here it goes... Here is some background on the situation...

To be honest with you I grew up truly blessed. A great family atmosphere (my parents have been married for 35+ years) not sure if you can say in the church but we went more or less every weekend, and was given every opportunity to try a musical instrument, art/painting, sport and or anything else a teenage was able to be interested in that particularly week. I was lead to believe (or some may call it sheltered) that every 16-17 year old received a new car on their birthday, college was paid by parents and 100% of your graduated class went to college (working for a year or two was not heard of). Yes, now that I am saying this I was totally sheltered when growing up and the first few years in college, but I have been given my own hand. Dealt with the pain, surgeries suffering, but I was able to over came it all. But now I can say that I worked hard in college, graduated with honors, worked 30+ hours a week while in college (even though I did not have to), found a job, bought a house and living what I like to think is the good life.

So I am sure your saying, Laura what the hell are you trying to get it in this vent. Well here you go...

I am so sick of people complaining about how awful their life is. I'm sorry that you were not given the same opportunities as some were but a lot of people have it much worse. Maybe if you did not par-take in "extra activities" in your personal life you may of finished up college or not still sitting in class with 18 year olds. You wouldn't be living in your parents basement job-less because you can't pass a drug test, background check, credit check, and or know how to interview for a job. You/We are almost 30 years old it is time to grow up. You should of grown up 3-5 years ago after your parents pulled you out of college the first time because your partying was out of control, your grades sucked or you just lost motivation. Yes I understand we all take different paths in life, but your life sucking is your fault. You had a good thing a few years ago but your actions proved you couldn't hold on to it (hence why we broke up).

Complaining about the things you did wrong, quitting a job before you found a new one, having a family that you can't afford and then praying/asking God to make it all right is disgusting especially asking for it on social media. Your talks to God are a one on one talks. Not all 50 of your Facebook friends / Twitter followers need to know your dirty laundry. That is why prayer is usually silent and not done with others. And I'm sure you have never stepped foot into a church in your life your just doing for sympathy.

Maybe one day. I will be able to use your name in normal conversation with out cringing or be able to go out in town with not having to watch my back. Life is that much better with out you around. And there are plenty of people will agree with me I am 100% better off with out you around.

So it's Wednesday night and I think I got out what I wanted to and needed to. If not I will do it all again until I feel better about the situation. I hope one day realize that this is about you and it slaps you in the face, especially when you read how happy I am in now that your gone. Adios "friend" hope I never see you again!

Widespread Wednesdays - 6.6.12

I see all these people who do Thankful Thursdays and tell all about the great things that they are thankful for.  So I am going to attempt to start a new thing which I am going to call "Widespread Wednesdays".  It will be more or less the things that I am either really excited about this week or up-coming week.  It's going to be my jump start for maybe me to blog more often (which I have done two in the past 5 days and really proud of that) and a good way to start my phase into the weekend.  Hope you all enjoy!!

The first thing that I am really excited about this week is my date night.  The photo to the left is the Town Park, in Madison, Georgia that Bryan and I like to relax in after dinner.  The two of us (NERD ALERT) enjoy playing checkers, which he still will not let me win, sitting in the grass talking and a few weeks ago we actually saw a concert in the park.  The City of Madison did a great job with this green area and very happy that we have a nice quite place to sit and relax after our date nights!

Number Two is my dirty little secret show, Pretty Little Liars which is starting season 3 on ABC Family on Tuesday nights. Kelly and I have read the books and I really think that if we lived closer together we would of be getting together on Tuesdays to watch this show.  The sad thing is that I know a ton of people watch this show that are my age give or take and will not admit it in normal conversation.  If your a reader and want to ever get into the show they the show just started the 3rd book.  The show does a great job on following the books, well at lease with the "major" parts of the books.  If your looking for something to read and or watch this summer I would totally recommend PPL! (as the kids call it these days).

The last thing that I am so excited about this Wednesday is the 5th season of True Blood.  (Man, what is with me and watching TV shows that are based off of books).  I know summer is in full gear when True Blood starts up on HBO.  To be honest I was not that thrilled with season four.  I did not follow the books as close as I wanted it to, unlike the first few season's.  But True Blood is still a must on my weekly summer TV list.  Hopefully I like this season, because books 5 and 6 were two of my favorite books besides the first two. So many twists and turns in this show I wish I believed in buying TV shows on DVD.  This is one I would love to watch again, to make sure I did not miss anything when the show originally aired.  Sunday night at 9pm you know what I will be doing and I am sure right after the show Cara and Ellen will be texting me "Did you see that" or an "OMG, next week is going to be crazy"

Happy Wednesday.
Still debating about posting my "vent" post that I wrote last night.

Memorial Day 2012

Memorial Day 2012.
A day that we should all stop and think of the all of the men and women who are serving in any branch of the United States Military and of course the most important those who have lost their life's protecting our freedom.  Past and Future these men and women are the real hero's and who our children should be looking up to.  Yes, I am a total girl when I see the soldiers in the airport either leaving or coming home or when you see on the news when they are seeing their loved ones for the first time since leaving for the Middle East.

To be honest with you, I know three men who are in the military as of right now, but not that many who have served in the past.  My Cousin, Cary, who is a Marine and has fought for our freedom in both Gulf Wars.  My old roommate Kyle, who is a Marine and has been over seas three times for the second Gulf War, and my boyfriend, who is in the Army and has served once in the second Gulf War.  These three men I am sure have their fair of horrible stories from being over in Iraq fighting for our freedom, but what I love about both of them is that they are so humble from when people say "thank you" or how people appreciate what they do for our great country.  I wish that more people taught their children what it means to have our freedom and what family, friends and loved ones go through if their solider is over seas or if god for-bid does not come home during a time of war.  I wish more people looked up to these men and women and said thank you for their time served.   I am proud to be an American and am so thankful for the men and women who have serve their time in the United States Military.

Thank you again to all of the United States service men and women

AUTOBOTS roll out!!

Two weekends ago was Ellen's 23rd (+5) birthday! Bryan, John (her husband) and I threw her a Transformers Bowling Birthday Party. Bryan and I went up to Atlanta to celebrate all weekend long.

We ate a great dinner at Greenwoods in downtown Roswell with a few other friends. Greenwoods is a farm to plate restaurant and one of my favorite restaurants in the north Atlanta area. Then we went to Stars and Stripes for bowling that night. We had all transformers table tents and party hats along with a great "face" cake with Ellen in the middle of a battle scene with megaton and bumble bee. The eight of us had two lanes the boys on one lane and the girl on the other and bowled a few rounds. I am pretty sure that we all had a great time and Ellen couldn't be happier for her Big Birthday Party. On Sunday we went to Johns families lake house on Lake Lanier Nd floated and had a few drinks during the day. And to top off the weekend, Bryan and I found an El Som to eat at in Gainesville, GA (which is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Statesboro) on our way home. It was such a great weekend and I can not wait to celebrate all the July birthdays at the lake for my GSU friends and Bryan.

It looks like I am going to be a month late on my blogs for the month of May.  Sorry blog over-load, but its time to roll out Autobots
