Tuesdays Tunes - Macklemore

Happy Rainy Tuesday, yet again in the Lake Country.  This is my 3rd week in a row (which may by a record) linking up with Holli and Lauren with their Tuesdays Tunes.  I actually think about this link up all week!  I am so glad that I found it!

This past week/weekend I have been obsessed with the song Thrift Shop by Mackelmore.  This song has blown up the past few weeks on the radio and YouTube.  I do not know what it is about this song, but every time I hear it it brings a smile to my face.  And that is exactly what I need with all the rain we have been having.  (6" in less then a week is crazy.  at lease i know my well is getting nice and full).   If you have not seen the video, it is pretty funny, * disclaimer * You may not want to watch it around younger kids, there is some profanity in the song.

  "I wear your granddad's clothes
I look incredible
I'm in this big ass coat
From that thrift shop down the road"

Happy Thrift Shopping and go link up with Lauren and Holli!

Weekend Shenanigans 2.22-24.13 Chocolate Covered Bacon??

Happy Monday Y'all  Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I am linking up with Sami Shenanigans and her Weekend Shenanigans link up.  This past weekend has been really low key.  It finally stopped raining in Georgia for a nice sunny day on Sunday for the Dayton 500.

On Friday I came up to Athens to visit with Bryan.  We did not do much Friday night.  We did go out and celebrate national Margarita Day on Friday with everyone else in Athens and lovers or Margaritas.

On Saturday we had a little bit more of an adventurous day after we cleaned the house while the rain fell.  We went out to dinner at Mirko, which is a create your own pasta place.  You are able to pick the type of pasta, ravioli or gnocchi and then the sauce you would like on it and they make it fresh for you.  Bryan and I had a bowl fill of mussels filled with a white wine and lemon sauce.  It was to die for!!

The craziest think we did on Saturday night was make chocolate covered bacon.  Yes we went a little crazy and tried something totally new.   It was actually really simple.  We fried some bacon (I think the next time we will bake it) and then used out fondue pot to melt dark chocolate mixed with sea salt, dipped the bacon in the chocolate and then gave it at shot of sea salt again.  It was exactly what you would think.  Salty, Sweet and Savory.  We will totally have to try it again with some milk chocolate and maybe some toasted almost on top.

On Sunday we ended up making it a very relaxing day, we went to lunch had Oyster Rockefeller, Salmon Egg's Benedict and came home and watched the Daytona 500, which Jimmy Johnson won an I ended up coming up on top right now with our Nascar pool B and I do each season.

I hope that everyone had as good of a weekend as I did.  Next weekend I know its going to be a little more exciting, I am going to spend it with Kelly and have a girls weekend with hopefully lots of Margaritas!!

Tuesdays Tunes - The Justin's

Happy Tuesday,

I am linking up with Holli and Lauren with their Tuesdays Tunes.  This week I am featuring my favorite two Justin’s:  Timberlake and Beiber.  I know complete opposites from what I posted last week.  I have been listening to a wide range of music and the past week and the two Justin's have been sticking out recently with new albums, videos and constant airtime on Pandora and XM radio.

My first song is one of my favorite Justin Timberlake songs “What Goes Around”  It is an older one from him but I personally think a goodie!  This is also the song that I would love to play for person who tried to ruin my valentines day and relationship with B.  She thought spreading rumors, talking trash, and contacting me through her “friends” and herself was going to make me run away, guess what honey child it didn’t and you can stop now!  Eventually the way you have treated me and B will come back around.

Now it's breaking my heart to watch you run around
'Cause I know that you're living a lie
That's okay baby 'cause in time you will find
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around

My second song of the week is Justin Beirber’s “Boyfriend”  For some really odd and strange reason I love this song.  (Lets be honest anyone who can rhyme the word fondue and make it work in a song deserves a little praise ever once in a while.)  I had never listen to a Beiber song in my life before this song and once I heard it I had the fever.  It has a catchy beat and I could see Justin Timberlake or Usher singing this song back when they first started in the music industry and or solo career's.

I got money in my hands that I'd really like to blow
Swag swag swag, on you
Chillin by the fire while we eatin' fondue
I dunno about me but I know about you
So say hello to falsetto in three two swag

I cant wait to read everyone elses link up for Tunes Tuesdays .  I am hoping that our Seattle/Chicago (rain and wind) like weather here again in Georgia goes away.  I don’t mind the rain (when its not cold) and a breeze (especially when its 100*+ on the lake) but together its an awful mix.  I’d rather be watching it snow if it is going to be this cold outside.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday!

Weekend Shenanigans 2.15-17.13

I am linking up with Sami Shenanigans and her Weekend Shenanigans link up.

This weekend was a weekend of trying new things, when it comes to watching a new TV show, eat a new restaurant or even listen to a new station on the XM we were determined to try something new.  This weekend we tried new restaurants instead of the same old one’s we eat at every weekend.  So this weekend I...

Bryan and I celebrated valentines day weekend part duex since Thursday night was a complete and utter blow up, which is a completely different blog post if and when I can write about it.  But I did get an amazing gift from him, a new bubble gum pink coach purse and I can not wait to break it out and all the haters be jealous!

On Friday Bryan and I went up to the Mall of Georgia and he picked out his Valentines day gift, which was a new wallet from coach, we ate dinner at Ted’s Montana Grill for our Valentines Date and I made him, no wait actually forced him to try bison anything on the menu, which he liked a lot!
Side Note  **Oh and while we are trying new things: we had this amazing waiter at Ted’s Friday night and him and I were talking about bacon and cooking, (we more or less became bff’s instantly with our love of bacon) and I told him about some of our bacon experiments we have tried and he said he is starting his own line of chocolate covered bacon and he brought some out for us.  OH MY GOD!  it was freakin’ amazing.  The bacon was dipped in a dark chocolate and it had a caramel glaze and sea salt on top of it.  My mouth is drooling thinking about it again!  **
On Saturday I was actually able to sleep in and when I mean sleep in I slept until 11:30.  It was the most amazing feeling in the whole world.  We did a very late lunch and ate a Peruvian restaurant in Athens called Rustica.  B and I shared a sea food platter.  There was fried and steamed calamari, shrimp, crab with an out of this world ceviche dip.

After lunch we went to the UGA GymDawg meet against Florida.  It is so different watching gymnastics' in real life then on TV when it is on for the Olympics or qualifying for the Olympics.  These girls are amazing and the atmosphere that the students bring makes the meets so much fun.

On Sunday we went compete opposite from our normal Zaxbys breakfast (yes, they serve breakfast at our zax’s locations)  went and tried the Porterhouse Grill for breakfast brunch. One of our friends said that we should go out there for dinner one night and after checking out the menu we saw brunch and we were sold for Sunday!! They have a complete southern breakfast buffet, salad bar, carving, pancake and omelet stations and a few other of their “top sellers” they want to feature on Sunday.   It was probably the best breakfast I have had in a long time, besides when my dad made waffles over Christmas time.  If you are ever in the Athens area on Sunday morning 11am-2pm go to the Porterhouse downtown on Broad Street.  It was killer!  Then we went to Lowes, I day-dreamed on what granite I would want and the shade of hardwoods in my living room, then came home and relaxed and watched The Amazing Race.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful valentines days and a great weekend.  I can not wait to read about what everyone did this weekend!

Tuesdays Tunes - Angie Aparo and Fiona Apple

I am a total music freak.  I am constantly singing, humming, making up my own songs, listening to my iPod, Pandora or random music I find on YouTube.  There are some nights after work, when I need to collect my thoughts and calm down I will go through my old CD collection (from before I got my first ipod in 2001), download the CD on ITunes and sit there and enjoy the music.  Sometimes there is that one song or lyric may put a smile on your face or relate to what you may be pondering over day or the past week.

That is why I am so excited that I have finally found a Music Link up, I feel like I have been waiting for one to pop-up on my blogger feed for weeks now.  I recently started following Lauren, and saw that she was hosting Tuesday Tunes.  I also started following Holli and so excited about Tuesday Tunes link-up!!

I am really into two different songs this week:

Angie Aparo "Wonderland"
"And I live forever dark and damned
To see you spend one minute
In Wonderland"

I wish that there was a "real" music video for this song.  I think that this is a beautiful song.  Makes me wish that there were more singer/songwriters out there who write and sing from the heart and have the passion like Angie Aparo.  I have seen him perform this song before and you can tell that he is so passionate about what and or who he is singing about.  If you have never heard of Angie Aparo look him up his music is wonderful.

The second song I can not get out of my head is (yes this is a huge turn):

Fiona Apple "Criminal"
"But I keep livin' this day like the next will never come"

Oh Fiona Apple!  Any late 20-something hears those first few notes of the song and has to automatically sing this song.  I love her, her voice, the music that she picks for her albums.  The first time I heard this song I was hooked and I call this my "American Idol" song.  (If I ever had the guts to try out for AI this would of been the song I would have sang.) I remember when this song and CD, yes CD, came out I was hooked.  I feel that this is the ultimate betrayal/take me back song.

I can't wait to read every one's elses Tuesday Tunes to see they are jamming to this week and hopefully find some new music to listen to.

Social Sunday 2.3.13

Happy Superbowl Sunday!!

It's the last official football Sunday.  Labor Day weekend 2013 can not come soon enough with the start of college football and the start of Georgia Southern and UGA football!   This Sunday I am linking up with Ashley and Neely for Social Sunday.   This week questions are all about 2's.
Sunday Social1. If you were stuck on an island what are the two material items you would want to have?
a).  My I-phone
b).  Jolly Ranchers

2. What are two TV shows you’d watch over and over?
a).  The Gilmore Girls
b).  Big Bang Theory
c).  Criminal Minds

 3. If your house was on fire what two things aside from family, pets, etc would you grab?
a).  My parents made an "about me box" (Its a glorified baby's book) for both my brother and I.  It has a little bit of everything in there:  My adoption notice from news paper, 1st birthday cards from both my grandmothers who are no longer with us and all other relatives and friends, the banner that was printed (dot matrix on the tractor feed printer) that was put up in my dad's office when the adoption was final.  (I was adopted at the age of 1ish week old).  Old photos of my mom and dad when they were kids to when they got married 37 years ago and the most important my first piece of Tiffany sterling sliver the rattle both of my grandmothers gave to me when I was born.  I now have it in my house and would be heart broken if I lost all of that sentimental objects because one day I would like to show it to my own kids if that is in the cards for me.

b).  Non-Digital Photos.  The photos of yourself as a child or photos that had been given to you from a loved one that is no long with you.  The photos that you look at when love ones die.  I have just recently acquired some photos of my mothers side of the family, Some of them are photos that were dated from the mid 1910's, photos of my grandmothers wedding, my mother's prom, college graduation and wedding to my dad.

4. What are your two most favorite articles of clothing?
a).  My Georgia Southern away game shirt.  Its just a standard T-shirt, but it has the GSU flag on it and it says Blue and White forever.  I wear it to every GSU away game I attend and so far in the past 6 years I and 15-3 while wearing the shirt
b). I have a pair of mens Polo pajama pants that are about 5-6 years old.  They have been broken in and perfect in every way.  I know that that the pants have seen it's better days, but when it comes to having a girl's night, watching movies, eating popcorn and drinking wine with your bff's nothings better then a comfortable pair of PJ pants.

5. What two movies that you saw in the past year would you recommend to us?

a).  Pitch Perfect - Perfect Girls Night Movie.  I laughed the whole time I watched this movie.
b).  The Dark Knight - I am usually not into superhero movies, but The Dark Knight kept my imtrest the whole movie.  We also made a weekend of it and watched the other two movies (Batman and The Dark Knight) that go along with the trilogy and they were all good.

6. What are your two biggest guilty pleasures?
a).  Trashy Reality TV shows.... like Honey Boo Boo, Real Housewives, Jerseulicious etc....

b).  Cupcakes - For some strange reason I like to try all different types of "gourmet" cupcakes.  The best one so far was from a bakery outside of Virginia Beach and it was a white cake with a bacon and maple cream cheese frosting.  There is something about a mini cake and being able to try wild flavors puts a smile on my face.

Happy Sunday and to whatever team you are cheering for good luck!  But I will be cheering for the commercials and the referees! Cant wait to read everyone's blogs on the "Social Sunday" link up!!
